What is the VVSGOF?

The Voluntary Voting System Guidelines Open Forum (VVSGOF) is an effort to provide a system that facilitates discussion about the proposed TGDC recommended guidelines being considered by the US Election Assistance Commission as the new VVSG. It will provide an opportunity for comment and discussion at all levels of the document (i.e. you can comment on the whole document, one of the parts, one of the chapters inside the parts, or a subsection of one of the chapters of one of the parts).

The EAC has provided an official comment tool that is convenient for submitting comments to the EAC, and we applaud them for achieving this unprecedented level of transparency and convenience. However, we wish to create an environment that fosters open discussion of these very important guidelines. The EAC tool is not suitable for facilitating such a discussion, and it is unclear if the EAC should be doing so.

A beta of the VVSGOF has started, accompanied with milestones for features that will be added to the system. At the end of the 120 day comment period, we will print out all existing comments and deliver them to the EAC. If you wish to suggest features or help with this process, please use the contact form. More details about the project and its goals will be released in the coming weeks.
